Obituary

Donald Martin, Donald Gene Martin passed away quietly in his home on January 31, 2022. Don was born March 2, 1955, in Logansport, Indiana to Donald Lee Martin and Teresa Ewell. He grew up in Frankfort, Indiana sharing his childhood with his sister, Sharrie and brothers David and Shawn. As a child, Don enjoyed riding his horse “Sugar” shooting, sledding and anything he could do outdoors.

Don attended Clinton Prairie High School. As a teen, he played baseball and basketball and developed a life long passion for music and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He attended Purdue University where he studied history.

Don was married three times and with his first wife he had Kim and Donnie, with his second wife the couple had Michael Shane. Don met the love of his life Patsy Ann Emigh and they were married November 23, 1982. The couple moved to Florida and had Daniel, Travis, Erin and Hannah before moving to Montana in 1992.

Don was a caring man who exuded a certain firmness of character. He believed in hard work and the value of a solid handshake. He loved his country and was proud to be an American. He also loved playing and performing music and never missed a chance to sing a song whether for one person or a crowd of thousands. He shared his love of music with his sons eventually performing as a family for many years. Determined to be his own boss, Don enjoyed owning and operating a variety of businesses including a pressure cleaning service, an arcade and pool hall, an auto body and service shop and music stores. All the while, continuing to be a private construction contractor. Don retired in 2015 due to medical issues. In his retirement, he enjoyed writing and playing music, attending concerts and taking short trips on his Harleys. His later years were spent providing daycare for his grandson. He taught him his ABC’s and his numbers. A normal day together was spent watching music videos , having nerf gun battles and tinkering in the garage.

Don is preceded death by his father Donald Lee Martin, his son Travis and daughter Hannah Martin.

He is survived by his wife Patsy; his daughter Kim (Darren) Mickler; sons Donnie, Michael Shane Martin, Daniel Emigh (Jessie Lynn Benton) and Erin Martin (Julia Farmer); his mother Teresa Ewell Hebert of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; hIs grandchildren Destasia Benton, Evan Walton, Daniel Jr, Nathaniel , River and Harmony Emigh, Hannah , Tanner, Lilly and Michael Martin and great grandson Kairo Benton; his sister Sharrie Wagner of Dallas, Texas; his brothers David Martin of Plano, Texas and Shawn Ewell of Palm Springs, California. Don had many friends and family including the Martins, Ewell, Yellowtail, Jackson, Birdinground, Stewart, Shaw, Emigh, Larimer, Baker, Glenn and Bulltail families.
